The project

At Arte in Ferro, we strongly believe, and have always been vocal about it, that a staircase is not simply a functional element, but rather a work of architecture that defines the space and changes its character.

In this project, we created a cantilevered staircase with an iron structural core, entirely designed in our technical office and produced in our workshop – as well as certified to EN 1090 - ISO 3834.

Let's start with the hidden structure: an iron core is anchored to the load-bearing wall and custom-designed to ensure rigidity, stability and safety. There are no visible elements; the technology remains hidden inside the masonry.

A suspended iron tread was created on each structural element, then covered with varnished wood, treated to withstand the test of time and enhance the contrast between materials. The result is, once again, a staircase that seems to float.

Completing the whole is an extra-clear glass railing fixed in a concealed manner. The glass is not a simple accessory, but an element that amplifies natural light and highlights the minimalist design of the work.
