The project

Arte in Ferro played a key role in the urban regeneration of Ragusa’s Santa Domenica Valley, contributing to the project through the fabrication and installation of a structural steel pedestrian bridge.

The Santa Domenica Valley is a natural gorge running right through the heart of Ragusa. Historically known for its orchards, vegetable gardens, and quarries of iconic white Ragusan limestone, this city landmark is famously spanned by three historic bridges: the Ponte Vecchio (1843), the Ponte Nuovo (1937), and the Pope John XXIII Bridge (1964).

Today, the site is at the center of a major €7+ million urban renewal project spanning roughly 70,000 square meters, funded by the Municipality of Ragusa.

The project aims to transform the valley—often referred to as the city's green lung—into a vibrant urban park for the public. The master plan includes restoring historic trails and traditional dry-stone walls, remediating neglected areas, reintroducing native vegetation, installing modern lighting, and upgrading stormwater management systems.

Executed with meticulous attention to structural engineering and environmental integration, Arte in Ferro’s contribution delivers an optimal balance of functionality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Taking part in a project of this scale marks another milestone for our company in public infrastructure and structural steelwork—underscoring our technical expertise and proven track record in delivering structures designed to enhance community heritage and public space.
